Bumpdate: Week 32

So, we hit week 32 last Friday! Which means we only have 8 weeks until we meet our sweet Wade.  We absolutely cannot wait to have him in our arms.

Wade is now the size of a Florida pomelo or a Squash.  He should be around 4 pounds and 16.5 inches long.  He has always measured a week ahead, but we haven’t heard a true pound measurement of him since our ultrasound around 20 weeks.  Since we aren’t high-risk, we just get measurements of my belly now.  Those are always right on track with where we should be measuring.  When I asked at our appointment last Friday, we won’t be getting another ultrasound unless there’s a growth concern, or we make it to 41 weeks.  I would rather not have either of those, so I’ll be just fine with no ultrasound.

We’ve had a stressful couple of weeks these past two weeks.  The day we turned 30 weeks I started having a toothache, which to make the story short resulted in a root canal the next Wednesday.  We also had an OB appointment the Monday after that, and they found protein in my urine.  We had to do a 24 hour urine collection to check for proteins, and that came back with protein in it as well.  So, they moved our appointment up from the next Tuesday to this past Friday.  At that appointment, there were no traces of protein in my urine, and everything looked fine.  We are still very mindful of my blood pressure, but it is still well under the limits we are looking for.  So, I believe it was a result of the antibiotics I was on for my toothache and infection, and we have kept our appointments at every two weeks.

We are very close to having Wade’s nursery finished, and I will be so glad when that day comes.  This mama doesn’t like to be unprepared.

Hopefully we have an uneventful two weeks and the next update is at 34 weeks after our appointment.

Bumpdate: Week 28

Hello 3rd trimester!

We are 28 weeks pregnant today, which means we are in the third trimester of this pregnancy.  It also means we only have 12 weeks until Wade joins us!

I am still feeling great! I had my 1 hour gestational diabetes test a few weeks ago, and we passed that with flying colors.  We have another appointment next Tuesday for mainly my TDAP vaccine, and a belly check.

We had our first shower last Sunday given by both of our moms, and let me tell you… they went above and beyond for us.  We got so many wonderful gifts for Wade which will definitely help us a lot.  TJ is going to paint his room next weekend when I’m at another shower, and then we can move things in! I cannot wait to get things in his room and feel a little more ready for his arrival.  Since currently everything is sitting in our living room, it will be nice to have everything in his room.

We still have plenty to buy for him, and plenty things to ask for advice on, so look for that post soon.  If anyone has any advice on baby must-haves or pregnancy must-haves for the third trimester, leave them below.

24 Weeks

We are 24 weeks pregnant today!!!  This is absolutely crazy to me, because that means we only have 16 weeks to go until we get to meet our sweet Wade.  There are tons of things happening development wise with Wade these days.  He’s as big as a cantaloupe!  When we had our anatomy scan on the 10th, he was 1 pound and 1 ounce and measuring about 5 days ahead.  He looked perfect too.

I have to do the gestational diabetes test on May 8th! And, I was blessed with a doctor who sent me the drink at the last appointment and will let me drink it at home.  I just have to go in for the blood draw.  Of course I’m nervous about it, I’ve heard the horror stories.

We also really need to work on Wade’s room.  I need to get it all cleaned out, and painted.  TJ’s wonderful sister gave us the crib Alijah used. And, we are so blessed! But, it’s currently sitting in our den.  So, it also needs to be put in Wade’s room.

Probably the most exciting thing that happened lately is we have decided on Wade’s full name.  Wade was pretty easy, and we’ve had that picked since before we knew he was a boy.  But, he hasn’t had a middle name until earlier today.  So without further torture, his full name will be Wade Christopher Butler.  I am in love with his name, and can’t wait to meet the little boy that it belongs to!  And, this mama is also super excited to buy things with monograms on them!  Southern mama for sure! I’ve joined about 7 smocked clothing groups today!

That’s about all I’ve got for now! Only 16 weeks to go until Wade Christopher is here!

Bumpdate: 17 weeks

How far along:  17 weeks today!

Size of baby: Baby is the size of a turnip, or a playstation controller.
Gender: It’s a Boy!
Exciting developmental things:  His senses of sight, smell, sound, and touch are all starting to develop.  His ears are in place on the sides of his head and he has started hearing us.  He can sense whether it is light or dark outside of my belly too.
Doctor’s Appointments: We had a doctor’s appointment for bloodwork and a Doppler on Monday. Everything is great and bloodwork came back just fine.  No markers for spina bifida or any other neural  tube defect.
Weight Gain:  Only up 8 pounds so far.
Stretch Marks:  None so far!
Movement:  I should start feeling movement between now and 20 weeks.
How I’m Feeling: Both me and TJ had a cold this week so it’s been a rough week for everyone.  Lots of sleeping and rest.
Miss Anything?:  I don’t really miss anything yet.
Sleep:  I can sleep like a champ if baby sleeps like his mama we’ll be set.
Food:  Still don’t want a whole lot of pork.  Not really craving anything except vegetables with vinegar and salt.  I used to eat carrots or lettuce with vinegar and salt every night when I was in high school and it seems to have returned.  Although, I’ve added radishes to the mix, and I’ve never had a radish in my life until Tuesday.  Also killing some cucumbers.
Workouts:  Hopefully with the time changing this weekend, it will make our walks more frequent.
Clothes: Still wearing my dress pants from before we got pregnant. And, other than that it’s mostly leggings and dresses.  I can’t wait until warm weather.
Baby Items:  Bought the car seat and the bases this past week, although they’re at mom’s and since we’ve been sick we still haven’t been over to get them or look at them.  I also bought him a few new outfits since we found out it’s a boy!
Best Moment This Week: Being pregnant while sick, and knowing that he’s not feeling any of it is a blessing.
Looking Forward To:  Now, I’m just looking forward to movement and our anatomy scan in a few weeks to see how big he’s gotten since our last ultrasound.

Oh Hey 2nd Trimester: 14 Week Bumpdate

How far along:  14 weeks today!

Size of baby: Baby is the size of a lemon, or a troll doll.
Gender: Only 9 days till I know the gender. Kendall is currently the only person who knows besides my doctor’s office.  And, the next week is going to be hard knowing that someone knows and I don’t.
Exciting developmental things:  Baby Butler has facial expressions, and the liver and bladder are working.  The intestines are starting to work.  It’s ears are almost in position.  We’re also growing hair and eyebrows.  The roof of his mouth are forming as well.  And, he is swimming back and forth inside my belly currently.
Doctor’s Appointments: We don’t have another doctor’s appointment until March 6th for a belly check and Doppler and more bloodwork.  The doctor called on Valentine’s Day and told me that baby is absolutely perfect and there are no detected abnormalities.
Weight Gain:  Still holding at 5 pounds.
Stretch Marks:  None so far!
Movement:  Evidently baby is swimming back and forth and is able to stretch itself out completely straight.
How I’m Feeling: I’m still feeling great!
Miss Anything?:  Not really missing a whole lot this week.
Sleep:  My sleep is still wonderful!
Food:  Still don’t want a whole lot of pork.  But, I’ve had firehouse subs twice this week and we’re going again Saturday night.
Workouts:  It’s starting to get warmer, so we’re planning on taking the dogs on walks on the weekends when it’s warm.  And, maybe some nights after dinner.  Not getting off till 6:00 and then cooking is making it hard to do anything after dinner.
Clothes: Thankfully, New York and Company makes these and they fit like yoga pants, but look like dress pants.  And, I love them!
Baby Items:  We are planning to go to Babies R Us this weekend and push strollers and hold car seats.  So I’m actually pretty excited!
Best Moment This Week: I love pregnancy still! The call from the doctor was definitely the best moment this week.
Looking Forward To:  I definitely can’t wait until our gender reveal! I’m ready to buy an outfit!

Pre-Due Date Goals

There are definitely a few things I would like for us to accomplish before the baby comes.  Aside from having a place to put him/her and being fully prepared with tons of baby gear and cute clothes and things like that.

1.  We have to organize/pack our office.

This is because #1 it has been our junk room ever since I moved in literally.  It is just where I store the boxes I don’t want to unpack.  #2 this will be the baby’s room in just 7 short months (which is crazy in and of itself.)  So, that room has to be cleaned out, organized, packed, painted, and transformed in 7 months.

2.  We have to finish the church pew TJ got me to be the seating at our dining room table.

It has been sitting at his mom’s for months. And, although I am grateful to her for housing it for us, I am sure she wants her carport back. And, I’d like to be able to seat 8 people at our table. Or, at least 6.

3.  Invite our friends over for dinner at least once a month.

Ya’ll. My best friend is getting married one month after our due date.  Exactly 15 months after I married my best friend. And, I feel like I haven’t seen her since she got engaged.  Which isn’t true, but I truly believe all four of us benefit from our dinners and I intend to keep them up right up until our due date.

4.  Teach our dogs manners, or take them to training before baby comes.

We have good dogs.  Don’t get me wrong. Comparatively speaking, our dogs are just fine like they are. But, there are a few things we could work on.  Sit, come, quiet, don’t jump on people as they come in the door, and just the basic commands would be a great start to bring baby home with.  Because, come August, these two are not going to be the cutest things in our house any longer.

5.  Enjoy my time with just my husband before we become a family of 3.

I love my husband more than anything.  He’s the best thing that ever happened to me.  But, up until this week I definitely feel like I have just kind of been trying to make it through weeks 1-8 of being pregnant.  This week I truly believe I looked up one day and realized that we only have 7 more months as just the two of us.  Even if it’s laying in bed and watching 4 episodes of chopped and trying to figure out who’s going to win, it’s worth it to spend time with him.

We’ll see if we can get all these things accomplished before the baby comes, but some of them have to happen and there is no choice, so I guess that makes it easier to mark things off our list.

Bumpdate: 8 weeks

How far along:  We are 8 weeks today!

Size of baby: Baby is the size of a raspberry, or a gummy bear, or a 2×2 Lego brick depending on which app I decide to look at.
Gender: Still don’t know. But, I’m feeling more and more like it’s a girl every day.
Exciting developmental things:  Our baby is moving this week.  It’s very weird to think that this baby is dancing inside of me, and I can’t feel a thing.  We developed eyes this week.  We also started forming fingers and toes.  There’s a lot of things happening early on in pregnancy. And, it’s crazy to think our baby is almost looking like a little person in there.
Doctor’s Appointments: We don’t have a doctor’s appointment until the 19th, and we will be one day short of 10 weeks at that appointment.  I cannot wait to see our baby on the ultrasound and hear a heartbeat and know that our baby is there, it’s doing good, and everything is fine.  We also will do bloodwork for the genetic testing that day, and it should include a gender.  Hopefully I can get our doctor to leave the gender at the desk in an envelope so I can come get it and we can do a gender reveal for our friends and family.
Weight Gain:  I’m pretty sure the batteries in our scale need to be changed, because everytime I try to get on it, it flashes a different number and says “Lo.”  I plan on grabbing batteries next time I go to the store, so maybe I can get a more accurate number for weight gain.
Stretch Marks:  None so far, and I pray it stays that way.  I’ve been using lotion, but not religiously.
Movement:  Baby started moving this week, and although I can’t feel it, I know it’s happening.
How I’m Feeling: Yesterday I was pretty wiped out.  Today I’m feeling more awake, but still very tired.  I feel like I could go to sleep and sleep until Monday.  And, with the impending snow, I might just get to do that.
Miss Anything?:  I miss not thinking about everything I’m putting in my mouth, and worrying about every little thing.  But, I don’t think the worrying stops when I give birth.  Then I’ll just worry about what is going in baby’s mouth.
Sleep:  We are still great on the sleep front.  Sometimes when I wake up on my stomach, I feel like I’m squishing something, but other than that things are good.
Food:  I have no food aversions yet, and nothing makes me sick.  The only thing that is kinda iffy is like uncooked meats.  It definitely makes me feel slightly nauseous.  And, thoughts of any kind of pork or steak is kinda ehh.  Like I just don’t want it.  But, I can eat it.
Workouts:  This is definitely an area I want to work on for the next week.  I know for an easier labor and delivery, doing short workouts will help.  It will also help with how I carry, and how I lose weight after baby is born.
Clothes: Most of my clothes still fit, but jeans are definitely tighter.  Not that I’m the biggest lover of jeans to begin with.  Some shirts are just looking different these days.  I did order one pair of maternity jeans, leggings, work pants, and a white t-shirt.  Because, elastic waist jeans sound heavenly even not pregnant.
Baby Items:  I’m still in the looking phase of everything currently.  Once I know the gender we will probably be more serious about registries, and starting to get stuff and get the room cleaned out.
Best Moment This Week: It’s been great just feeling so good about being pregnant.  I know lots of women aren’t this lucky to have absolutely no sickness or aversions.  We’ve also spent a lot of time discussing names.  And, we paid off a loan a whole year early.  Definitely feel like we’re ready to be parents now.
Looking Forward To:  I’m looking forward to eating oyster stew and chocolate chip cookies at my parents tonight, and maybe being snowed in this weekend.  And, our appointment in two weeks.
